(May 15, 2007) —D’Angelo
Grilled Sandwiches will take its message to the TV airwaves with
Red Sox DH David Ortiz for the first time in its three-year
relationship with the slugger. The commercial, created by
Boston-area ad agency Boathouse Inc., stars Ortiz and D’Angelo’s
talking, life-size Steak and Cheese sandwich following Big Papi
through his daily routine. The ad’s message is that the D’Angelo
Steak and Cheese will follow you throughout the day until you
satisfy your craving for it. The commercial will air for the
first time on Thursday, May 17 throughout the Boston and
Providence DMAs on all the major networks and cable TV stations,
including NESN.
Throughout the
commercial, Ortiz’s thoughts and routine are stopped throughout
the day by the Steak and Cheese, who is constantly on Ortiz’s
mind. Big Papi and the D’Angelo Steak and Cheese make appearances
in Boston , most notably in the Red Sox locker room; Ortiz’s SUV,
and the Red Sox underground batting cages. Images of the real
D’Angelo grilled-to-order Steak and Cheese are interwoven through
the commercial, which ends with the line, have you taken care of
your craving this week?
“We felt it was time to make a bigger splash with our product and

“Television was a natural marketing choice for D’Angelo because of

several new television commercials during the remainder of the
year featuring its Steak and Cheese Sandwiches, Thanksgiving
Toasted Sandwiches, as well as its new line of Lobster Sandwiches,
